Edith Shain: The Nurse

After decades of trying to crack the mystery as to who the sailor and the nurse were in this iconic image of the 20th century - they were identified as Edith Shain [the nurse] and George Mendonça [the sailor].
Ms. Shain passed away in Los Angeles June 22nd.
She was ninety-two years of age.
